Patal Bhuvaneshwar is a magical place with several hidden and unexplored aspects to it. Located at an elevation of 1350m above the sea level, this place is tagged as a spiritual place renowned for its Shiva Temple cave.
The name of the place itself comes from two words meaning earth and Gods of Universe. Lying amidst the dense cover of oaks and cedars, this beautiful place has a lots of myths attached to it. The cave is said to be home of about 33 crore Gods and Goddesses. It is said that this place was discovered by the ruler of Sun Dynasty, King Rituparna. Do visit this place to explore the mystery attached to this place and enjoy the tranquility it offers.
Summers in Patal Bhuvaneshwar is warm with the temperature reaching till 47 degrees Celcius. But the evenings are cool. Carry cotton clothes or light woollen for the season. If travelling during winters, the weather is delightful with cold and strong winds. Heavy woollens are recommended. However, avoid visiting the place during monsoon (July-mid September), when the area is prone to heavy landslides to rainfall.
Haat Kalika Temple
Located 13 km from Patal Bhuvaneshwar in Gangolihat, Hatt Kalika Temple was created by Adi Shankaracharya. The presiding deity of the temple is Mahakali Shaktipeeth and it is believed the idol of the goddess was shifter here from West Bengal.
Apart from the temple, this place also offers some mind blowing panoramic views of natures bounty.
Patal Bhuvaneshwar Caves
One of the most mystical places, Patal Bhuvaneshwar Caves is a mesh of limestone in form of stalactites and stalagmites. These natural wonders resemble the tongue of Kali Bhairav, hairs of Lord Shiva, Aravati or Indra and many others.
In fact it is believed that every god resides in this fascinating cave, you have ever heard of. Worshipping at this place is considered equivalent to going on all Char Dham of the Uttarakhand.
